White
Temptation
2010 - University of Lisbon
This is a project I developed in my 2nd year of University. The goal was to design a chair conceived as an industrial product to be produced in a wooden furniture factory. I had to consider my measures as a guide.
The chair was designed for a dining room. Despite its primary function, it can also be used in a bedroom or elsewhere in a home.

Inspiration
This chair was inspired by Malevich abstract paintings, composed of geometric elements such as squares and rectangles.
I imagined this chair to be used in a home near the seaside, and this is why the choice of white, the transparent seat represents the sea water. An emotional design that awakens curiosity, but at the same time serves its function.
Ideation
study of form
At the end, I chose to design a straight backrest due to the lack of experience in carpentry. Since the design was not intended to relax, but just to sit and eat, it wasn't justified the extra time bending the backrest.
Final Result
The final design resulted in a geometric chair with clean lines, it's shape and white colour allows it to blend in diverse environments, such as a terrace in a beach house, in a kitchen or dinning room. The most interesting aspect of this chair is the concept of a transparent sit: it serves no additional function, bui it's a balanced blend between imagination, art and design.
